ThedaCare Weight Wellness:
General Program and Weight Loss Medications FAQs
General Program FAQ
Losing weight and keeping it off can be challenging. What helps one person lose weight may not work for another.
ThedaCare's Weight Wellness Program combines several modalities for ongoing support in the weight loss journey:
- Nutrition Services
- Regular Health Coach Check-ins
- Care Management Oversight
- Online Wondr Weight Loss Program
- Lifestyle Intervention Programs
- Weight Loss Medications
- Weight Loss Surgery
Currently, ThedaCare Employees and Dependents on our HealthPartners plan are eligible for the program. Members must be 18 or older and meet the following BMI criteria. Click here to calculate your BMI.
- BMI of ≥30, OR
- BMI ≥27 with related medical conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes
The weight wellness program consists of a series of visits focusing on helping you overcome nutrition, physicalm and emotional barriers to successful weight loss.
- Meet our Team:
Schedule an initial in-person class with our health
coach, dietitian, and care manager to learn more about the program's team approach to weight loss. Successful weight loss typically involves a team approach.
*Complete the MyChart questionnaires before the class to share your weight loss goals and health history. - Partner with our Team: Enroll in the program and begin working with your dietitian and health coach to reach your goals. These visits can be completed in person or virtually. Because obesity is a complex, chronic disease, you may also work with the program's certified obesity medicine physician to achieve your goals.
- Maintain Weight Loss: Stay connected with the program to maintain weight loss. We will help you solidify the habits you've learned so they become a natural part of your daily life.
Part of the program includes reviewing whether weight loss medications are appropriate for you. However, the program philosophy is that no “magic pill” exists for weight loss. The focus is always on lifestyle changes that are sustainable over time.
To avoid hidden costs and insurance copayments with each visit, enrolled participants will pay a monthly membership fee of $40 via ThedaCare Billing. This fee will include all visits and group classes with the program's dietitians, health coaches, care manager nurses, and obesity medicine providers after the initial class. The program's annual estimated retail value is $1,300. The monthly fee does not include medication costs.
Weight Wellness enrollment is available after the initial class if you decide the program is a good fit for you. Click here to schedule your initial class today.
You can notify the Weight Wellness team anytime to cancel your membership subscription. However, the cancellation notification must be received five (5) days before the 1st of the month to avoid an upcoming bill.
At this time, the Weight Wellness program is primarily virtual. Starting in August, it will secure personalized space at our ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Neenah hospital. Virtual visits for health coaches, nutrition, and weight loss medication services will continue to be offered.
Weight Loss Medication FAQ
Working together with a certified obesity medicine physician is the best way to determine if weight loss medication is the best option for you. Medication is considered with a BMI of ≥ 30 or a BMI between 27 and 30 with related medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Click here to calculate your BMI.
You will discuss this with the program's certified obesity medicine physician. Some weight loss medications are only approved by the FDA for 3 months. However, like blood pressure and diabetes medications, others may be considered long-term if tolerated well with no side effects.
Medications can result in significant weight loss, but nutrition and lifestyle changes are needed for long-term results. The Weight Wellness Program will partner with you to adopt nutrition and lifestyle changes that increase the effectiveness of weight loss medication and minimize the risk of weight regain.
Members enrolled in our Weight Wellness program have access to our certified obesity medicine physician, who can prescribe these medications at a discounted price when specific requirements are met. The program will then continue to monitor for side effects, dosage changes, or alternate medications and can facilitate additional support quickly and efficiently.
To receive discounted weight loss medications, members must meet the following requirements:
- Age: 18 years or older
- BMI: ≥30 or ≥27 with related medical conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. Click here to calculate your BMI.
- Weight Loss Program: Active Weight Wellness program participation
- Pharmacy: Prescriptions must go through ThedaCare Neenah - Retail Pharmacy. Home delivery is available
